Our Regenerative Medicine Treatments:

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP treatments are simple and powerful; we take platelets and growth factors from a patient’s own blood and expose them to photobiomodulation to create a super serum. This serum is then injected directly into the damaged area of the patient to promote healing.


MiniStem is a next-level treatment that combines the powerful photobiomodulation-activated growth factors of PRP with the patient’s adipose (fat) tissue for cushioning and support of the joint. The area is then treated with red laser energy and extracorporeal shock wave therapy for intense healing effects.


MaxxStem is the most comprehensive of our orthopedic treatments, combining PRP, adipose tissue for cushioning, and regenerative cells from bone marrow, along with the patient’s own growth factors activated by photobiomodulation. This super potent combination is then injected into the patient for a maximum healing effect.

What Are The Potential Benefits of Regenerative Cell Procedures?

  • Relief of chronic pain
    • Regenerative cell procedures can provide relief of chronic pain by potentially healing damaged tissue, building new tissue, reducing inflammation and preventing scar tissue from forming in the injured area.
  • Lowered Risk
    • Compared to traditional surgeries, regenerative cell procedures are extremely low risk, as the patients’ own cells are used to heal the injured areas. There is also no need for general anesthesia to be used, so all of the risks associated with that are removed.

Regenerative Medicine patients are encouraged to move around as much as they comfortably can following the procedure and start physical therapy just a couple of days afterward.

The Science of Regenerative Cell Procedures

Finally, the regenerative cells, in combination with the patient’s own natural growth factors activated by photobiomodulation, can be injected where they are needed – such as an inflamed hip or knee joint. From the time of injection over the course of the following 2 to 12 months, the cells can potentially repair and regenerate the damaged tissues, resulting in relief of pain and improvement in mobility and function.



Are there any contraindications to having a regenerative medicine procedure?

No, however, while there are no contraindications to regenerative cell orthopedic procedures, not everyone is a candidate based on their condition. We encourage anyone who is interested to give our office a call and speak with a qualified member of our team and set up a consultation with Dr. Purita.

Will the bone marrow and fat extraction portion of the procedure hurt?

The area of each extraction is numbed with local anesthesia ahead of time to minimize any pain that may be felt. Most patients describe both extractions as “uncomfortable” or “odd feeling” but not painful.

Will regenerative cells regenerate the worn out cartilage?

While there are no guarantees, regenerative cells work by repairing damaged tissue and in some cases can aid in regrowing new tissue including cartilage. We recommend consulting with the doctor about your specific case to determine if he thinks it may help.

Will the regenerative cells heal the tear (labral, meniscus, etc)?

There are no guarantees, but we have seen many patients come in with diagnosed tears come back after regenerative cell procedures with no visible tear in their MRI and/or severely reduced pain.

How long will it take to feel better after my regenerative medicine procedure where I am no longer in pain?

Recovery time for regenerative medicine procedures are different for everyone, varying anywhere from one week to twelve months post procedure. The most common turnaround time for patients to feel a difference is about 3 months.

How does the regenerative medicine procedure work to improve my condition?

Regenerative cells work to repair and potentially heal damaged tissue, build new tissue, reduce inflammation and prevent scar tissue from forming in the injured area. Depending on your condition, regenerative cells can work to heal an injury, reduce the effects of osteoarthritis, or reduce chronic pain.

Do I need to take the supplements after and for how long?

We recommend taking the supplements that we give you for at least a month to ensure healing effects. For maximum results we recommend patients take the supplements for 6 months post procedure.

Must I do physical therapy afterwards?

We HIGHLY recommend all patients do physical therapy post regenerative cell procedure to ensure maximal healing effects.

Are there any restrictions after the procedure?

If you get an adipose (fat) and/or bone marrow extraction we recommend you do not go in a pool, jacuzzi or bath for 4 days following the procedure as you will have a small, bandaged incision. Other than that there are no restrictions post procedure.

How much pain will I be in afterwards?

Pain level varies for everyone. The most pain will be the night of the procedure, as the numbing agent wears off, as well as the next 2-3 days. We recommend patients plan to be in a comfortable environment and not do anything too strenuous for a few days following the procedure.

Can I take NSAIDS and/or Tylenol afterwards?

Yes, you can take either NSAIDS or Tylenol afterwards to help with the pain.

How many visits will I have after the initial treatment?

If you are getting a MaxxStem procedure, we typically recommend you come back for two follow up PRP treatments to maximize healing effects. Beyond this, we recommend coming in for follow up consultations based on your condition. Your patient coordinator will follow up with you to book accordingly.

What will be done on the follow up visits?

The doctor will examine the treated area and depending on the examination results, recommend any follow up treatments the patient may benefit from.

Are there any restrictions pre or post treatment such as taking NSAIDs or drinking alcohol?

We recommend if you are taking an NSAID to not drink alcohol the same day. While not forbidden for weeks afterward, alcohol is not recommended while in a state of healing.

Will I be able to drive myself afterwards?

We highly recommend that patients do not drive home if they do a bilateral MiniStem or bilateral MaxxStem. If the patient does choose to drive home, they will simply be asked to sign a release of liability form.
