Botox^Ⓡ and other wrinkle relaxers such as Xeomin^Ⓡ, Dysport^Ⓡ and Daxxify^Ⓡ belong to a group of injectable medications called Neurotoxins. Neurotoxins are FDA approved to decrease the force of contraction of the muscles in the face, thereby reducing the creasing and folding of skin that contributes to fine lines and wrinkles.

Neurotoxins are most often used to lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, glabella (the “elevens”), and crows feet.

HOW IT WORKS

Patients first meet with the provider and complete a comprehensive evaluation where they are explained the risks and benefits.
Your provider will then make a recommendation for treatment area(s), amount and type of medication based on your consultation.
Injections are performed with a tiny needle and syringe.
Only very small amounts of medication are needed at each site, and the entire treatment is usually over within 15 minutes.
Results typically begin showing within anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the number of areas, neurotoxin injections are typically just 15 minutes.

Is it painful?

Usually patients tolerate the treatment very well without numbing cream with minimal discomfort. However, we do offer number cream to all of our patients should they request it.

How long does it last?

Neurotoxins usually last about 3 months. For best results, maintenance treatments are recommended every 3 months.

Do you use this treatment for other things besides wrinkles?

Yes. Botox^Ⓡ has many therapeutic uses as well. Neurotoxins can help with bruxism (teeth grinding), migraines, and tension headaches.

Is botulinum toxin safe to inject into my face?

Yes, Botulinum toxin has been approved for therapeutic use since 1989 and aesthetic use since 2002. The product has been highly researched and studied and is safe in injections in the face. The most common side effect is bruising at the injection site.
