Dr. Purita Joins Albert Einstein and Linus Pauling as Member of Sigma Xi
February 18, 2024
A few months ago I was nominated to Sigma Xi, a non-profit honor society for scientists and engineers founded at Cornell University in 1886. Membership in Sigma Xi is by invitation only, based on research achievements. The society’s goal is to honor excellence in scientific investigation and they encourage cooperation among researchers in all fields. They have nearly 60,000 members and 500 chapters worldwide. Many influential scientists have been members of Sigma Xi, such as Albert Einstein, Linus Pauling, Barbara McClintock and Sally Ride.
To become a member of Sigma Xi, one must be nominated by two current Sigma Xi members. I am humbled and grateful that two members nominated me and I’m proud of this certificate I just received, which I wanted to share with you all.
