Embrace the powerful effects of combining hot & cold therapy
Come in for a 30 minute session, and alternate between the infrared sauna and the cold plunge. This is your session so you choose how much time to spend in each! We recommend starting with a 7 – 9 minute sauna session and then moving to the cold plunge once your body has adapted to the heat. You should spend 1 – 3 minutes in the cold plunge which is set at 48°F and then repeat.
By combining sauna therapy with contrast treatments, we can achieve a variety of benefits. After spending time in a sauna, where the body is heated and relaxed, transitioning to a cold treatment amplifies the effects. The sudden exposure to cold triggers a rapid vasoconstriction, followed by a subsequent vasodilation as the body adjusts. This process stimulates circulation and encourages the removal of metabolic waste, toxins, and inflammation.
Moreover, the interplay of heat and cold treatments helps boost the immune system. Saunas can increase white blood cell production, which plays a vital role in defending against infections and viruses. The subsequent cold treatment enhances this immune response by stimulating the production of more white blood cells, creating a powerful defense mechanism against illness.
Many people incorporate this practice into their daily routine after their workout routine. Doing this everyday can help you recover fast and train harder than ever before. If you are unable to do contrast therapy everyday, we recommend a weekly session to see the full benefits or after intense exercise.
Please come to the facility with a bathing suit or clothing that can get wet and don’t forget to hydrate properly before and after each session. At PUR-FORM we have robes, locker rooms, showers and water sandals so you only have to worry about your wellness!
If you are pregnant or have any existing medical conditions, please speak with your doctor before scheduling any contrast therapy sessions.
