Do I have your attention? Good!
Did you know that certain foods can boost libido and improve energy, mood, and the health of skin, hair, and nails? They can help make you sexier by the minute!
Unfortunately, we have all become accustomed to showing our love and devotion by giving gifts loaded with fat and sugar. We don’t realize that these sugary gifts work against us in the bedroom. Refined sugar is the kryptonite of a juicy sex life. Sugar lowers testosterone, reduces growth hormone production, makes you tired, and triggers stress and anxiety.
Here are some excellent alternatives that will show your love for your partner’s overall health and well-being, and there are added benefits for you as well!
Goji Berries: Called “happy berries” in China, goji berries’ aphrodisiac powers are held in high regard. In Chinese medicine, the goji berry is used to strengthen the adrenal system, which is believed to be a center of sexual energy. In addition, the goji berry has one of the highest contents of beta-carotene of all fruits, which boosts the immune system and the body’s antioxidant levels.
It can also protect the body against cell damage and premature aging—improving energy levels, performance in and out of the bedroom, and overall well-being. Clinical tests prove goji berries also help lower (LDL) bad cholesterol.
Avocado: The sexy shape mimics the curve of a woman’s body, but the sexual characteristics don’t end there. They are rich in vitamin B6, folic acid, and prolactin, which help increase overall energy and give the system a sexual boost.
Bananas: This sweet fruit is worth slipping into your diet to lift your sex drive. Bananas are a great source of potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins – critical nutrients for muscle contraction, which are very important for good-quality sex. Also, bananas naturally contain bromelain, which helps produce testosterone and increases libido.
Chocolate/Cacao: This mood booster increases serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain, lowering our stress levels and making us happy. Cacao increases blood flow through the arteries and relaxes the blood vessels—sending blood to all the right places. But, whatever the reason, chocolate is never a bad thing.
Figs: They are high in zinc and magnesium; these two nutrients are essential to make testosterone and other sex hormones. Although not well documented, figs may also enhance the secretion of pheromones, the chemicals we produce to attract mating partners.
Ginger: If you like your food like your lovers—sweet and spicy—you’re in luck! Ginger can improve your sex life by supporting blood flow and improving artery health.
Hemp Seeds: Excellent source of magnesium, a mineral most of us fall short in. Magnesium not only helps regulate blood pressure, but it also helps increase testosterone levels.
Maca: A relative of the radish, Maca is often sold in a powder form and can be added to your smoothie or coffee. It’s been around for hundreds of years and can help with everything from stress and fatigue to depression. But, the benefits don’t stop there: Multiple studies have shown Maca plays a role in improving sexual function and hormone balancing.
Spinach: This leafy veggie is a rich magnesium source that helps dilate blood vessels. So, how does that help your libido? It increases blood flow to all parts of your body, increasing arousal. Increased blood flow drives blood to our extremities, which, like the little blue pill, Viagra, can increase arousal and make sex more pleasurable.
Every aspect of a food – its color, shape, scent, and texture – can make it sexy. Certain foods contain substances that make us feel good by interacting with our hormones or stimulating our brains. Incorporating some of these into your next romantic dinner will help you and your partner get in the mood.
